There is some story regards the cancel the trip during two month drive as Uber, I like to share with raider to understand there as rules on it which can help raider to save money
Story 1:
One day on Friday, I travel on the SE to ship a rider to work, at the end of the trip, there is a trip request booked in, Friday morning is busy moring for the Uber driver due to a lot of people use Uber as transportation tool to go to work. after I drop off the passage then I prepare to drive to the destination of next rider, just on the way I received a message from Next massager:
“Can you cancel this trip for me?, your time can’t match me, I can’t cancel it .”
I can’t cancel this trip at this moment, due to I was driving. So I am not answering his message, and continuously keep driving. After 1 minute he call me and request I cancel for him, I said I am on the way to your place, if you want to cancel, you can cancel it.
Normally I will not cancel the accepted trip due to if I cancel the trip then the rate of trip cancellation will increase, which will impact my driver level to keep as diamond driver.
After 1 minute of the phone call, he did cancel, then I received $3.65 and he was charged $5, I stop my car and waited for the next rider, after 2 minutes I received a trip request from Uber APP, then I accept and start my car towards the destination. But actually, this is previously rider who did requests and he booked a trip after he did cancel, but the Uber computer find my car is the closest car so the computer sent these requests to my APP first, I did not realize immediately it is the same person he did cancel several minutes before. While I am driving I start receiving messages from this rider, “I am not happy”, “ I am so mad”. “your service is so bad”, “I will call the Uber service to compliant to you”……so on and so onn within 5 minutes he did send me total 9 messages then he did cancel, then he did charge 5 dollars, he was charged $10 do nothing.
The second time when he booked in, if he found the same driver who can’t much his time, he should cancel the trip immediately to avoid to charge instead of trip 9 message to waste the time
Story 2
One day I drive at north west with a rider in my car towards his home, and then in the end of the trip I received trip requests, I was enabled the automatic acceptance of the trip requests , so I received a message which said the next rider was added to my lists, but 1 minute later, the raider canceled the trip, then he booked in and canceled again, booked in and canceled again, each cancels always within two minutes, after He booked the fourth time, he gives up and not canceled, after I drop the rider and the place is very close his place only two blocks, this is the way Uber computer calculation, I do not ask him the reason he catcalled fourth time, but he did right thing and he found I was working with another passager and He didn.t want to wait, he want some Uber driver directly and not sure how long I will take to finish another trip, and he selected to cancel.
After finish this trip I checked my app, three cancels he did with 0$ charge, cancel the trip as soon as possible within 2 minutes as way to save $5 charge.
Story 3
One day I drive in the southwest of Calgary, then I received a trip request which is 12 kilometers away, I am not happy with this trip due to it is too far to pack up someone which he possible only trip 1 kilometer, but in that time I am working towards demand driver, I don’t want to cancel this trip, so I decided to drive to his place, after I arrived the location a rider come to my and car and told to me he is so angry, I asked why you are so angry, he told me, he booked in this trip 15 minutes before and one driver accept his trip and after several minutes driver text to him and told that his car has problem and request to cancel the trip for him, he did cancel, Uber charged he 5 dollar, this is not my fault why I was charged my 5 dollar, I told to him you not understand the cancel rules, both driver and rider can cancel the trip, but you should not to cancel due to drivers excuse
He asked me if he can get the money back, I said if you remember the driver name and you can call Uber to find help, but he forgot the driver name.
Story 4
One day I drop a passenger at NW Mark mall, the time is 12:00 pm, then I park my car to buy the launch, on the waiting for the launch, I was not turn off of the Uber APP, I was want to wait if there is some people booked for next trip. I received trip requests from 14 kilometer away after 1 minutes I paid for my launch, but I need wait another 5 minutes to get my launch then I can to drive to the destination, after I got my launch then I go to My car to ready to drive to pick up the raider, then I received a message from raider the trip canceled, I checked the App, I received 0 dollars due to my car is not moving while raider waiting over 5 minutes
From Above story, we can find there is some Cancel Rules raider and driver can follow:
a) When rider booked, please make sure you can reach the pinpoint within 2 minutes when rider approach the pint point, after two minutes, Uber start to charge raider wait time, after 3 minutes, driver can cancel trip and charge raider $5.
b) When rider booked in, Check driver statues, if the time is not match, cancel it within 2 minutes to avoid the $5 charge
c) Both driver and rider can cancel trip, if driver move the car towards the radier, after two minutes, raider cancelled , the rider will be charged $5, dollar.
d) If the rider found the driver car not moving, the driver can cancel the trip without charge no time limited.
e) raider can cancel many time without charge if the cancel with in 2 minutes. f) driver can cancel the trip no charge but the cancel rate will increase and which impacted driver level and decrease next time pick up chance.
